The problem
Renting lighting and sound for events looks like a catalogue business, but it's a logistics and money business. Every rental is a long chain: quote at prices that depend on the pack and the number of days, confirm with a deposit, deliver to the right district, collect a security deposit, pick the gear back up, inspect it, and only then release the deposit. Along the way you have to file an electronic receipt or invoice with the tax authority and work out the commission for whoever closed the deal. A pretty catalogue that touches none of that just moves the problem to WhatsApp.
What we did
We built Elecktro Producciones as a single platform covering both sides of the business.
Facing the public, a catalogue of 301 items organised into 18 categories — PAR cans, rhythmic lights, fog machines, lasers, speakers, camera and video, among others — with product search and pre-built packs at visible prices, from the laser party pack to the foam one. Customers book online, pay at least a 30% deposit to confirm, and settle by bank transfer, card or RUT account.
Behind it, a back office built on Laravel Nova where each rental moves through its six stages — quote, unconfirmed, confirmed, delivered, returned and cancelled — and the system handles the rest: payments reconciled from MercadoPago and Khipu, electronic receipts and invoices filed with the tax authority, technical inspection on return, deposit release, and automatic per-worker commission calculation.
The outcome
A Chilean small business running its entire operation from one system, in production since 2018 and still actively maintained: the latest addition was verified identity through Kilden, to measure how people who request quotes actually behave. It's the kind of project where e-commerce is only the surface — what holds the business up is the custom software running behind it.
